Choosing Save from the File menu allows the user to save the survey data, currently in memory, to disk. Save will overwrite the file on disk from which the survey data was previously loaded, if it can be located. If the data was not previously loaded from disk, or the previous file could not be located, CavePlot will automatically go to the Save As option instead.
If changes have been made, and you wish to keep copies of both the original and modified survey data, select the Save As option (instead of Save) to create a new file (with a different file name) for the modified survey data.
The Save option saves survey data in CavePlot-Binary format. To save a file in some other format, choose Export File from the Other menu. Other formats currently supported include CavePlot-Text, Karst, and Compass. Other data file formats will probably be available in future releases of CavePlot. If there is a file format you would like CavePlot to support, please let me know, and send me a sample.
